Bush Administration Chucks Responsibility after Hurricane
Days after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, the Bush administration delayed reaction and relief to those struck by the catastrophic storm. Many left behind were trapped in over-crowded buildings, flooded houses, or on roof tops with out food, clean water, and other basic needs. To handle the problem was Michael Brown (a.k.a. Brownie), a horse breeder who has had no previous experience handling a major disaster. Brown admitted that he had no idea of much of what was going on in New Orleans, including the lack of food and water in the stadium. Republicans even blamed the poor for their own plight. It’s about time some one took responsibility for the failures of Federal Policy.

The Democrats have offered solutions to the problems in the tragedy:

Cut Red Tape to Expedite Services
Provide vouchers for basic needs and expenditures: food and health care, funds for financial aid, etc.

Create Local Jobs
Train and provide jobs to those unemployed and displaced by the storm

Hire Competent Leaders
End the spoils system in Washington. Hire qualified people to manage FEMA.

End Price Gouging
Create federal authority to stop profiteering on gasoline, heating oil, housing and other essentials.
