NASHVILLE (Sept. 4, 2006) — College Democrats organizations across Tennessee will hold kickoff events this week as part of their statewide strategy to work towards victory for Democrats in the elections in November.

“College Democrats all across the state are ready to work hard from now through November 7 to ensure Democrats are elected across the state,” said Christy Holden, Tennessee Federation of College Democrats President. “We have been planning our statewide efforts for months and are anxious to get started early this semester.

“Hundreds of students will be on the ground phone banking, canvassing, and turning out student voters for Democratic candidates statewide; we even have members managing campaigns and field organizations for key state races.”

“College students are an important part of our formula for victory in November,” said Bob Tuke, Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman. “These students represent the future of the Democratic Party in Tennessee. And based on the enthusiasm and passion that I see from them, the future is bright indeed.”

The Tennessee Federation of College Democrats is responsible for coordinating the week of kickoff events.
